How to choose
Mantel or shelf: Full mantels frame the whole fireplace; shelves mount above it in 48″ to 72″ widths.
Clearance:Non-combustible concrete shelves can sit closer to the firebox than wood, indoors or outdoors.
Finish: Choose primed MDF to paint, or maple and alder with custom stains like Ebony or Whitewash.
Surround: Granite and marble surrounds add polished or matte stone; slate is the budget-friendly option.
